I’m Der!
As an introduction, I’m a 30 something year old accountant from the midwest. I lived in Los Angeles for a good part of my life (fight on!) and am back in Illinois in downtown Chicago now living with my fiancĂ©. During more typical times, we work full time, try to workout regularly, are doing a lot of traveling, and I’m trying out new recipes I find online. Things shifted though in June 2018 when I was diagnosed with primary mediastinal B cell lymphoma (PMBCL). I’m currently undergoing DA-R-EPOCH chemotherapy treatment and will be sharing some thoughts, tips, and updates along the way on this site.
I wish some awesome, happy travel adventure led me to starting this site, but cancer (still getting used to that being an everyday word linked with my life) is what actually got me excited enough to start. As an accountant I’ve never been much of one for writing, but putting things on paper has always been therapeutic – ever since starting journaling in junior high. On here I hope to personally confront and grow from everything going on. Also, maybe putting my stories out there will help someone else too. If all else fails, then this page will at least help me to keep friends and family all up to date and give me a log of the craziness that is my life at the moment.
An extra note: I am very much not a medical professional. What’s written on here are just my thoughts and not anything that should be taken as professional or medical advice. I’m also definitely not a writer so maybe cut me some slack on that end too, friends
